Frequently Asked Questions

Here we will compile a list of most frequently asked questions and answers. Please review these before asking questions via email or on the forums. The answer might just be here. It's a short list now, but will likely grow each day.
After doing the data conversion of my V2 database file, the new data doesn't show or I get a crash of P2A.
After a data conversion, be sure you restart Pilot2ATC so it can read in the new data and reset all the other data values for a fresh start.
I don't see a way to Purchase the new version or an upgrade from V2
We are working on this and should have a solution in a few days. In the meantime, enjoy the software with the 10 day free trial.
I need to update my Navigraph Data but V3 does not show in the FMS Data Manager
Navigraph does not yet support the V3 data format. Review the QuickStart-First Flight video. In the first few minutes, it explains how to use the P2A V3 Data Converter to convert your V2 data to V3. Also, if you have made changes to your airport layouts using TaxiMnt in V2, just peform a similar process on your P2ABaseData.mdf file from V2 and you will get all the changes in V3, without a hassle.
When i try to install MS Sapi voices, I get a Text-to-Speech Installer error
SAPI voices are installed to Windows. P2A just gets information about them from Windows and then uses them. If you have 3rd party SAPI voices you are using with V2, they will be available automatically to V3. If you are trying to install the Microsoft Natural voices, review the QuickStart-Settings video to see how to do that.
After landing, I did not see the Request Taxi Copilot Option in the List
t present, you would need to first call "Clear of Active". Then the Taxi Request option should appear. I will be changing that so you will get the Taxi Request option upon landing. One of the goals was to limit the options to those that made the most sense for a given controller and Flight State. Some tweaking of these will be done as we get reports.
I did the data conversion as per the video, and I can see procedures in the interface, but I cannot see any charts.
Charts are available only for US Airports from the FAA. Charts are not part of the AIRAC data and Navigraph will not allow us to display their charts in our user interface. However, you can print charts from any source to PDF files, name them appropriately and set up a folder structure with a folder named as the ICAO code of the airport. For example, ".../Charts/EGLL" and put all the PDFs for EGLL into that folder with the procedure name as the file name. Then tell P2A that the Charts folder is "..../Charts" and when you enter EGLL into the Charts ICAO code, it will display a list of all the files it finds in the EGLL folder.
Some of the color schemes on the map can make the plane very difficult to see. Is there an option to change the color of the plane icon?
The aircraft Icons can be changed in the Aircraft Profiles to a wide variety of shapes and colors.
Is there a way to change the default speed of all the voices at once, rather than selecting each one individually to do so?
There is not a way to change the speed of all voices at once. Due to the difference in voices, that does not give good results.
Have we lost the option to have random voices assigned to different controllers?
Random Voices is the Default in V3. You cannot assign individual voices to controllers other than ATIS. You can also assign a voice to your CoPilot. After that, all voices are assigned randomly. To get lots of new voices, check out the QuickStart-Settings video.
I set up the Chatter folders like they are in V2 and I don't hear the Chatter
Make sure you select “Regions” for the Chatter Option value on the Chatter tab of Settings. This is the mode you need to play chatter like you did with the Ctlr Folder mode in V2. Ctlr mode in V3 just uses a simple one set of controllers without any Regions. Also, there is a button in the Com area, between the Com1 and Com2 titled “Chtr” that can turn Chatter on and off from the main screen without going into Settings. This will be highlighted when Chatter is on.
I get an error message that mentions ".... no such table: ATCController" when trying to convert my Navigraph V2 data to V3
This error indicates that the program cannot find the V2 data file you have pointed it to. If you use the "Default Data Location" you need to ensure that you have the P2ADynamicData.mdf file in the P2A V3 Data folder. If you use the Navigraph FMS Data Mgr to load the new data, be sure you point it at the Pilot2ATC_3_x64 main folder. It will know to look for and use the Data sub folder.
When I call for clearance, the controller does not respond
  • Make sure the radio is operative. Listen to ATIS or call a different controller for a radio check.
  • Make sure the radio or avionics switch, if equipped, and the battery switch in the aircraft are on. You may need to set the option in Settings on the Common tab to “Ignore Avionics Switch” or “Ignore Battery Switch” or both.
  • If the airport has Ground or Clearance Delivery, call them for clearance instead of Tower.
  • Make sure the Device with the Microphone is listed as the Audio Input device on the Snds tab of Settings.
  • Make sure your Microphone is working by using the “Language Trainer” found on the Utilities Tab of Settings. Press the Practice button, say just “Say Altimeter” or “ Radio Check”and see if it is recognized. If not, listen to the “Replay” of your voice and if you don’t hear anything, something is likely wrong with the Mic Settings in Windows.
I can't set my Com frequency and it displays very strangely
We've discovered that your Region setting in Windows needs to be set to English-US. Or at least the Decimal Symbol must be "." instead of "," and the Digit Separation Symbol must be "," instead of " " (blank). Apparently Windows is causing the display and string conversions to/from numbers to mess up.
